The Story behind the Story – Writing Scarred for Life, Healed Forever

Now that it is almost a month since Scarred for Life Healed Forever has been out, I look back at the circumstances when I started writing it. I have grown up reading Espionage, Horror, Suspense, Thriller, Scientific Fiction, Romance, Biographicals. The onset of the dawn of love stories in the Indian literature has sparked new hopes for people to read more platonic forms of love and feel light at heart. What i have also read is that majority of them have tragedy, making love the most painful feeling on earth.

Scarred for Life was indeed envisioned in my mind’s eye a long time back. What I needed was rather important scientific proofs or better still people who had remotely experienced what Nistha, the protagonist feels. Luckily, I did come across people who had remotely experienced what we call as strong 6th sense.

Many have told me that the plot was a bit too strong for people to accept it. As mentioned in book, normal people had difficulty in comprehending this, considering this to be a work of some black magic or woo-doo as commonly known. But, I did speak to many people, shared their experiences, their normal, sub-normal, abnormal and paranormal instances in daily life. These are also the people I have known to be strong in mind; much stronger than ordinary people and surprisingly they are ordinary people. They even practice stringent regimes, yoga, meditation and try to control mind and thoughts through focus.

Scarred for Life, Healed Forever is actually a story of so many people who just didn’t voice their thoughts considering that others will think that they are mental or significantly paranoid. I myself underwent many paranoia bouts as I went into researching on this topic and I have been downright frustrated trying to make some sense and see light in the book. Somewhere, a lot of elements have jumbled and then sorted on their own while the story progressed and this book, specifically the character Nishtha, is very close to heart.

I used elements of love in this – you cannot have a single youngster who has never been in love or crushed on anyone. The facts do not change and I cannot change that. Scarred has inspired me to write further on different topics.

I believe the power of mind is irreplaceable and at some time you learn to rely on your instincts more than consequences and what is going on around. That is when you begin to understand that the power to sort problems lies within.

A month later it feels great that I created a world of possibilities and wrote Scarred for Life, Healed Forever.
