I am not joking when I am saying that. When I was a kid the torment it was for me to be on stage was classical. I could go to pieces and I am sure no one would even pick me. I think it is the sense of impending doom that makes you go all clammy and cold.
Fast forward 30 years later – I have learnt Classical Dance, Kathak in Jaipur Gharana and we used to have annual functions in our school. I still would get nervous to be fair. But once I start performing, I am gold.
The best part of losing my inhibitions came when I had to perform solo. I had to play the role of Guru Vishwamitra and we were doing Ramayana on stage and I was so confident that I am glad that I shed that snakeskin of nervousness. It is important at times to submit to the inhibitions to emerge as a better version of yourself.
Performing on stage is now no longer a scary prospect.
