I am not a big fan of things being in their proper places. I need things to be a little haphazard and a little out of place. It should be a little messy because that is where my mind starts racing.
I am not a cluttered person – definitely not. But too much neatness, to the point where the purest form of oxygen is going to burn my lungs is not a preference thank you very much!
My favorite space for reading or writing has always been something in my mind. I watched the movie The Holiday and Arthur Abbott’s character has this amazing study in the suburbs in Los Angeles where he spends a quiet retirement.
That is the perfect place – chaos and everything is in its rightful place.
It helps to think and it also helps to navigate different areas of your creative nook. I like the fact that unlike a lot of movies where they show grand libraries and floor to ceiling bookshelves, this one, here, is a more realistic view of how a writing or a reading space should look like.
I saw the movie 15 years ago and I fell in love with that space. It was perfect. That is what I had always imagined. It was almost as if the movie director read my mind.
I am sharing few pictures here. But these don’t do justice. Do watch the movie. It is a feelgood tale after all and since it’s a Christmas time story – what better time than now!
