Snack it up!

Winters are not for full meals. And there is no enough food in the world to curb your hunger in winter. I believe winters are for snacks. And not much is said or written about those small portioned foods that make you more satisfied than full meals.

Come winter and I really lose my will to eat. It is so cold I almost get why animals hibernate. I, myself, am unable to step our of my bedroom. I could stay there forever.

And the only thing that helps wash down a good snack is tea. I need my regular dosages of tea and that increases the consumption to twice the usual. I feel all snacks have their one consistent accompaniment – and that is tea.

Occasionally, coffee too is a favorite alternative. I like to swap between these two to push the food down my throat. My system is on a hiatus – I am not sure how many of you experience this. A coffee or a tea really plugs my brain and jump starts the colon.

A good loaf of bread and butter, or a warm samosa or steamed cakes – you name it and I will have it only if there is tea to go with it. I am not forcing my throat to work to generate extra saliva. I need my poison to go with it.

Do you have such a food obsession?

      1. 2026 winter will be a platter of soups then. It’s a go-to comfort meal. Filling and immunity booster.
