Dose of Dosa

Hailing from the southern state of India, Kerala, Dosa has been an integral part of my upbringing. It is a comfort food. Though there are specifications to it as always.

Our early childhood memories are associated with flavor, taste and smell. Though I like Dosa, I am not keen to try it at any odd South Indian food joint. I need my kick of Dosa like the one my mum makes. It has a specific aroma of ghee along with the batter when it roasts on the stone pan.

Also, I am not a huge fan of Masala Dosa. The plain Dosa accompanied with Onion chutney and the Coconut chutney will altogether generate a mesmerizing sensation of bliss. I could faint with the pleasure of the taste. And I could easily gorge 5-6 and still be never full. The chutneys have the same effect as they are prepared in coconut oil.

The beauty of South Indian snacks is that they are not heavy on belly. Though I must say, they immensely satisfy the taste buds. I love the ones mum makes whenever I go home. And the trip is incomplete without my dose of Dosa…
